How to Complete Volunteer Requirements and Courses

SUMMARY

Thank you for volunteering.

All volunteers working with children must complete the following requirements mandated by California state and/or AYSO. You do not need to do these immediately, but should do so as quickly as you can. While these take some time, they protect our kids, and they protect you.

In particular, please complete the background check, fingerprinting, Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and SafeSport as soon as you can.

If you are a coach or referee, please follow the additional corresponding instructions below.

BACKGROUND CHECK

You should have already received an invitation from [email protected]. Please follow the link to complete your Background Check ASAP. Due to County, State and Federal reporting, Background Check Processing can take up to 10 business days. Self disclosures can add an additional 5 business days.

Note: Youth Volunteers (anyone under the age of 18 in California) are not required to complete a background check.   See How to become a Youth Referee for details.

FINGERPRINTING

Fingerprinting only needs to be done once.

In August, Foster City, Redwood City, and perhaps other cities in our Area will host Fingerprinting sessions. When we hear of them we’ll announce them to all volunteers. Going to one of these is the easiest way to get fingerprinted.

If you can’t make one of the above, you can get fingerprinted by a provider.  The nearest is UPS at 951 Old County Rd Ste 2, Belmont.

Instructions:

  • Log in to ayso108.org
  • Click on "Volunteer" in left panel
  • Check box to left of "Fingerprinting California Only"
  • Check "Renew and Update"
  • Follow the instructions.
  • AYSO will reimburse you for the cost. Just save your payment receipt and send it along with a completed expense form to [email protected] for reimbursement.
