GENERAL INFORMATION
Every game for ages U8 and above requires 3 referees. Without referees, it's only a scrimmage match.
UPCOMING TRAINING DETAILS
Training Dates can be found in the IMPORTANT DATES section of this page or on the REGIONAL CALENDAR.
REFEREE REGISTRATION PROCESS
Referees must be registered in Belmont-Redwood Shores AYSO, and be trained. See How do I Become a Referee for a detailed walk through of requirements and how to meet them.
Summary of what you must do:
- Create an AYSO account if you do not have one.
- Volunteer to be a referee for your player's division
- Complete the Regional Referee course. This is in two parts, an online course and test, and a in person course and field session. You MUST complete the online course before attending the in person course. You may attend either the Belmont/Redwood Shores course, or any other region's Regional Referee course.
- Complete a few other online courses. Safe Haven and Concussion Awareness should be done before opening day. The remainder can be done over time during the season.
GO REFEREE!
Go to your opening day game and have a blast as a referee! Not 100% sure about what call to make: just remember "Safe, Fair, Fun" make your call, and you'll do great! We will have mentors on most fields to help you. Touch base with them before the start of the game. Check in with them at the half and after the game for pointers.
Feel free to call or email us with questions.
